Help! – I’m FLAT BROKE ’til Friday and need a “home remedy” for automatic dishwasher soap…

Question by NEWTOME: Help! – I’m FLAT BROKE ’til Friday and need a “home remedy” for automatic dishwasher soap…
I have most of the usual household products around the house and should be able to make anything. I have a little bit of dishsoap, but it’s not very good and doesn’t cut grease. I use my automatic dishwasher ’cause it takes less water than handwashing. Any ideas – besides waiting to do the dishes until Friday… Thanks!!

loss of appitite & vomiting in dogs?

Question by joanie: loss of appitite & vomiting in dogs?
My 4 year old German Wirehaired Pointer had FHO surgery on his hip a month ago & is still uncomfortable. This past week, he hasn’t been eating as he used to,taking his time & picking at his food, and he has also been feeling “sick to his belly”. I can tell he isnt feeling well by the look he gives me & he vomits a little bit of food maybe once a day at night. Is this normal for a dog still in pain from surgery? I gave him some aspirin, but I stopped because it seemed to make his tummy worst. Any “home remedies” to sooth him? I heard of giving plain yogart.

After a month, he should not still be having eating issues. I would take him back to the vet and address the issue.

Poor baby. I hope he feels better soon.

umm, my dog just threw up roundworms, any advice?

Question by O_o: umm, my dog just threw up roundworms, any advice?
i know i should take her to a vet, but I was recently laid off, and cannot afford to at this time, i was wondering if there are any “home remedies” that aren’t poisonous or harmful to my dog, and that also actually work. i know I’ll probably get a lot of people telling me to get dewormer, but i honestly can’t now…help please?
Just to make this clear I wasn’t planning on losing my job. Plus this is the first sign of her even having worms. I’ve looked up symptoms on them and she still isn’t showing any of them, aside from throwing up this one time.
Also it is 2 in the morning here so I can’t exactly take her to the vet, hence why I’m online.
(Thank you, Single Worker 1230. I’m happy someone here can understand what’s going on.)
(Another thanks to o_O for the advice and the link. Plus a little bit of humor on the edge)

You have two choices:

1. Take your dog to the vet and get dewormer for her. The vet may sell it to you without an appointment if she has been in recently, which would reduce your price. Ask.

2. Surrender your dog to a shelter or rescue that can treat her and find a new owner that can care for her.

I know it sounds harsh, but if she is vomiting up roundworms, she is very heavily infested and a heavy parasite load can ultimately be fatal. There are no ‘home remedies’ that are effective and safe for a heavy infestation of round worms. I’m sorry, there just aren’t. You need a proper dewormer for your dog and if you can’t provide that (it is generally quite inexpensive), you need to do what is best for her and let the shelter find her a new home that can provide for her basic needs.

Help! My puppy has parvo!?

Question by maigra_roberts: Help! My puppy has parvo!?
My puppy was sick all night last night, this morning we took her to the vet and they said she has parvo. They told me it would be 1200$ to hospitalize her, and I cannot afford that. They offered me a home treatment “kit” and I took it.

A little bit of background: my puppy is 12 weeks old, she has been very playful and in good health until now. She is just laying around quite a bit now, and is feeling sick.

Anyways, the kit contained 2 IV bags for electrolytes. They gave her 2 shots to control the nausea and stuff. And the IV bags have reglan and somethign else in it.

My directions are to give the puppy 250CC’s 4 times a day of this liquid for 2 days. I was also told not to give her ANY water, and NO food for those 2 days.

Is there anything else I can do to save her? I do not want my puppy to die. She started feeling sick about 24 hours ago, now. Last night she was terrible, but she seems just tired now.
Well, before this, my puppy hasn’t gone to the bathroom in a while. Haven’t noticed any blood in her stool, or anything. Will check outside to see if I notice anything, she has only threw up 3 times. Also she hasn’t gone to the bathroom in about 24 hours now?

Alternative medicine.

Get a hand full of the outer bark of a cottonwood tree & three cockle burrs & boil them for 20 minutes in one quart of water. When the liquid is cool administer it with a basting syringe at the very back of her flews, behind her teeth.

A Vet gave me this recipe for Parvo.
