How do I get the odor of mouse urine out of the interior of a vehicle I just aquired. Please HELP!!?
Question by suicidaltendencies29: How do I get the odor of mouse urine out of the interior of a vehicle I just aquired. Please HELP!!?
I have tried wintergreen scented rubbing alcohol because I know that bateria causes the smell. I need to know what I can do, I have three kids and they may need to ride in this car eventually and I don’t want them in there with that smell. It smells pretty much like cat spray or urine but a little more pungent. The alcohol has knocked the smell down a few notches but I want better results and can’t afford a proffessional cleaning. So any suggestions that are “home remedies” are more than welcome.

rent a stem cleaner or if you know any one with a rainbow vacumm cleaner or with any steam vacumm ask them to let you borrow them. you can rent them at safeway grocery store and at some walmarts also at some truck renting places like uhaul. steaming it is the best way to go
you can also shampoo the carpet that works too

Try making a paste with baking soda, ivory dish soap and water. Let it sit and then scrub, and scrub. Then when dry, try some febreeze(pet odor ones). Best of luck to you.
Fumigate and then spray room freshener.
Animal urine is a pain to deal with. Invest in a tube shaped fluorescent black light, a portable one. Use in the dark, and shine it a few to 8 inches above the surface of the fabric, carpet, whatever. The brighter patches that you see are the urine stains. Spray those with a good antibacterial cleaner, enough to saturate the fabric and a bit of the padding below it that traps the urine like a sponge. Allow to sit for about an hour, blot out excess moisture of cleaner with clean rags or old towels, you can launder these rags or towels and reuse them. Let stained areas dry well. Repeat if necessary. I’ve also followed up with Clorox’s Anywhere for hard surfaces antibacterial spray. I’ve used it on carpet and it has not affected the color, but do test on an out of sight spot before spraying all over the upholstery, I found it did remove a pet urine stain and odor on contact. Great stuff. Good luck.
You can try oda-band it is sold at walmarts and sam’s club
You could try with a solution of ammonia and lemon juice. Or try with Milton, or any other kind of sterilizing solution used to sterilize new born baby´s bottles
I have had the best success on cat and dog urine & such, using “Natures Wonder” Its in a white bottle with red writting at most all pet stors. Just soak area and let dry. It activates the smell to get rid of it, so leave windows down.
Try odo ban to clean then, here’s an inexpensive and fragrance free solution that is perfect for your problem. – I know many other people that use it. It is a natural fragrance free carbon product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates odors for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn’t get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets, etc. and just don’t eliminate odors. Just place a couple of these in car and trunk. No spills or chemicals or powder to worry about. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails – it’s that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and Internet at customerservice@innofresh.com.
Definitely worth trying
