my city tap water has a pH off the charts right now and I need a quick fix home remedy to lower the pH

    You can add a handful of cpeat moss into the filter, but make sure that the peat your using is clean, The constant flow of the tank water thru the filter/peat will lower the pH of your water in time.

    To lower the pH is to make it more acidic. You might consider using citric acid. It is available in a powder which dissolves readily.
