Home Remedy for MRSA Staph

MRSA

If you reached this page looking for the review on the MRSA home remedy guide – click here

One of my oldest friends was hospitalized yesterday with a staph infection and tests came back positive today that it’s not just staph but the dreaded hoss-daddy staph infection – MRSA.

I was talking to another friend about MRSA in general and he was under the impression that it just couldn’t be treated but that’s not true.

I wanted to share with everyone exactly what MRSA is and how to stop it in your home before someone gets sick. You can actually be a carrier of MRSA and not know it.

MRSA is an acronyn for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and it is a type of Staph bacteria. This particular type of Staph is found both on the skin and in the noses of humans and is resistant to most conventional antibiotics.

As of 2008, an average of 90,000 Americans will get diagnosed with MRSA infections every year and and in 2005 alone, nearly 19,000 Americans died from MRSA infections.

There are two main types of MRSA.

You have probably heard about Healthcare-Associated (HA-MRSA), which occurs in hospitals and nursing homes, but a newer type of MRSA is Community-Associated (CA-MRSA), which has recently begun to spread in public settings like gyms, locker rooms, households and schools.

Some people can be carriers of MRSA and will not show any symptoms. These people can transmit the MRSA bacteria to others and the transmission is easy. Skin to skin contact, contaminating items by wiping their noses and then touching an item can transmit MRSA to others.

Preventing MRSA

If you’re in an environment where MRSA is a possibility, wash up! Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water and wash for at least 15 seconds. Antibacterial hand sanitizers are also beneficial.

Make a mixture of bleach and water (one tablespoon Clorox to one quart water) and put it in a spray bottle. Wipe down any surfaces such as tiled or basin areas. Use paper towels and dispose of them after using to avoid cross contamination and transferring MRSA from one place to another.

If you have any open sores/wounds – cover them with a clean, dry bandage until healed.

Never share items such as towels, razors, loofahs or any items that come into contact with your bare skin.

MRSA can start off deceptive and look like an innocent rash or spider bite. The infection becomes warm, painful and swollen and will often have red streaks – the hallmark of a Staph infection.

If you or anyone you know has a similar rash or wound, especially if it is slow to heal – have it checked by a medical professional as soon as possible as there are treatments for both Staph and MRSA that give excellent results if caught early in the development. The longer the MRSA progresses, the more difficult it is to treat.

Wanna Learn Spanish in Less Than 8 Weeks? I Did!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

I lived in South Texas for a long time and I picked up enough Spanish here and there to make myself understood or to be able to communicate with people as needed.

However, it’s always been a goal of mine to learn Spanish as I think it’s not only a beautiful language but also a really useful one to know.

When I decided to learn Spanish, I bought Rosetta Stone and it comes with a microphone and you do it on a computer. I got SO BORED with it and I didn’t feel like I was learning anything. I sold my copy on Ebay and I hope the person that bought it learns to habla espanol with it.

I was talking with a client and she asked me in passing how the Spanish lessons were going and I told her about my boredom with learning/sold it on Ebay stuff and she asked me if I had ever heard of Rocket Spanish. I said I hadn’t but made a note of it.

I Googled “Rocket Spanish” and I liked what I saw.
It promises you will learn Spanish within 8 weeks or your money back. I thought about my disappointment with Rosetta Stone and decided to bite the bullet and try this program. And I figured I can get my money back since they offered a 100% guarantee.

I am only in my 3rd week – 2 weeks longer than Rosetta Stone lasted for me – and I have to tell you that this program works for me. It keeps pace with how fast you are learning and I just really like the way the learning experience is laid out.

Along with all the conversational basics – you also get 10 bonus lessons, that cover Body Parts, City life, Clothing, Colors, Countries, Days of the Week, Food, Numbers beginners, Numbers advanced and House.

I just wanted to pass this on for anyone that wants to learn Spanish – this is a fast way to do it.

Home Remedy – Make Your Own Soap Video

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

I have really been getting into making my own soaps. A friend of mine came up with a really cool way to entice her little ones to lather up and wash before meals. You’ve never seen kids so motivated to keep their hands and faces clean.

spider_soapHer secret? When she makes soaps, she puts really funny stuff in the clear glycerine soaps she makes. Like a small rubber rat (the kids are insane for this one), a black widow spider ring (from Michael’s Halloween Closeout Sale) and other oddities.

You can make your own soaps for different purposes, washing the dog, some people make “shampoo soaps” for little kids to wash their hair with, others make mild soaps for babies as gifts for moms-to-be. The ideas for soap making can be limitless.

It inspired me to start really making my own bar soaps again but it’s been a few years so I needed a refresher. I went through my books and realized – I really wanted a video to show me the ropes.

Found a great “How to Make Soap” video here – it literally shows EVERYTHING you need to know.

Home Remedy Treatment for Eczema

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

I get at least 3 emails a week from people asking about eczema home remedy treatments. The good news is that you really can treat nearly all eczema through natural home methods.

Eczema isn’t a chronic disease that you “just have to learn to live with” it’s a condition that can be more than controlled through some management methods that include boosting your immune system by adding certain foods to your diet, learning the factors that may be causing eczema flare ups in your home and also other factors that may be contributing to your eczema outbreaks.

I have a cool eczema info page with some home remedy tips for controlling your eczema. My own daughter went through this and we went through years of gloppy white creams, oral medications for eczema and nothing worked – until we learned to manage her eczema home remedy style!

Home Remedy-Make Your Own Antibacterial Soap

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

I’ve been getting a lot of emails and phone calls from people asking about antibacterial soap.

People want to kill germs but as we all know, more and more people disliking the harsh chemicals that come in most commercial antibacterial soaps.

Here are two of my favorite (easy to make) antibacterial soaps:

Home Remedy Queen -Antibacterial Soap Recipe #1
Choose no more than two of the following oils – choosing more than that could be very harsh for your skin.
Choose from the following essential oils:
Lavender oil – a very popular anti-bacterial herb
Rosemary oil has astringent properties but personally always makes me think of a roasting chicken.
Patchouli oil helps with cell regeneration and has antiseptic, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties. Eucalyptus oil is also an anti-bacterial herb, most people either love or hate the scent. I love it.
Tea tree oil is a wonderful choice as a secondary oil and has antiseptic qualities.
Sandalwood oil is also an antiseptic and astringent herb.
Bergamont and Clove are also both antiseptic herbs with very strong scents you may not care for.

Use a bar of Ivory Soap or Ken’s Castillian Soap (Ken’s will be softer) and grate the soap into a pan and put that pan over a pan of water and turn up the heat.
As the water heats it will melt the soap.
Stir to make sure the soap is completely melted.
Remove from heat and add 20-30 drops of your chosen oil or oils.
No more than 30 drops total or you may have some really mushy soap. For example, if you chose Lavender oil and Tea Tree Oil – you may want to add 20 drops of Lavender Oil and 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil to make a combined total of 30 drops of oil.
Pour mixture into soap molds, small metal or glass dish and allow to dry.

After 24 hours you should be able to pop your soap out and stack it up (if you made a bigger batch) and let it “cure” for about a week before using. Then wrap in paper (wax paper or parchment is fine) and it will stay perfect until you’re ready to use. n of finely ground herbs. Pour the soap mixture into a bowl or a small metal or glass dish and allow it to dry.

Here’s an antibacterial Skin Cleansing Cream Recipe you might like too:
Homemade Antibacterial Skin Cleansing Cream

Mix 1oz bees wax
1 1/2 tablespoons of water
1/2 cup of organic sweet almond oil or sunflower oil.

Using a double boiler, melt the wax and oil and stir slowly until well blended.
Remove from heat.
Heat the water separately – a microwave is fine – then add it to the wax/oil mixture and keep stirring.
Keep stirring the mixture as it cools and add in 20-30 total drops of your chosen essential oils.
If you chose Lavender oil and Tea Tree Oil – you may want to add 20 drops of Lavender Oil and 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil to make a combined total of 30 drops of oil.
Pour into a sterilized jar (reuse olive, peanut butter or other small jars) and use within two months.

Enjoy!
