Attention Vet Care Techs Or Assistance: Vet Visits Are High In Price. What Is The Best Home Remedy For Fleas?

One of my dogs is highly alergic to fleas, he is constantly attacking his body and he breaks out tramendously from the flea bites. Besides flea shampoo and other things that the pet store carries. Is there a home remedy that I can use for my dog? Thank you so much and hope that this will save me money.

Unfortunatley i havent heard of a home remedy for flea protection, flea shampoos do not work at all nor do flea collars, so save your money and dont buy them, you can but a large bottle of FRONTLINE SPRAY, depending on the size of your dog, usually 10 sprays of this, rub into the coat and leave for 24 hours before baths or swims, and this works really well, it saves money in the long term because there is alot more in a large bottle than in the pippettes spot on, also it is vital, if your dog is so prone to flea allergies, that you treat him every 6 weeks, year round.

Buying all the junk people suggest is going to cost you more than a vet visit and it doesn’t work besides. Quit goofing around and being cheap. Get the dog to the vet and get some Frontline. If you can’t afford to go to the vet, you shouldn’t own a dog. Get it into rescue.

If your dog is that infected with fleas anything you do at home is not going to help him. Be careful fleas can get in your bedding and your cloths. He should be treated by a doctor. But you could try what I do for my dog…
The only thing that I always used and found it very helpful was Skin-So-Soft from Avon. But it doesn’t work on all dogs.
To stop the itching go buy { DiphenhydrAMINE Hydrockloride Capsules, USP } 25 mg.You can get them from Walgreen’s. I take one the am [ cut a piece of hot dog off stick it in the middle and he will take it ] do this twice a day. It stops all internal itching and it is an antibiotic also. If you buy it from the Vet it is very expensive. My dog has allergies and this helps her an awful lot…
Best I can help you with, good luck

  4. Green Weasle

I heard dish soap will smoother them and kill them, but it won’t repel them. You may also want to look up diatomaceous earth. It will kill any wort of bug that gets onto your dog.

  5. SHARRON C

I have been here and you have my sympathy. The absolute best thing you can possibly do is buy some Stronghold from the vet – you don’t need an appointment, if your dog is registered with them then you can buy it over the counter. It is a little dropper that you put between the shoulders once a month. For a small dog it costs £6 per month, for a large one it is £8. It comes in packs of 3 so will cosy beween £17 and £24 for three months supply and it WORKS. It kills fleas, ear mites, worms and is different to fromtline and all the ones you can get at the pet shop. It is the only thing that I found worked at all, but if he has develpoed allergies you need to use it every month religiously. Please try it and good luck.
p.s. I also found that spraying the coat with lavender spray (can order from horse places online to get the best price) and brushing it in once a day helped stop the itch scratch cycle. Also adding garlic to the food (again it is cheaper if you get it from a horse shop – big bucket that will last forever is only £10)
